A free 90-minute online workshop for third-year Clinical and Counselling Psychology Doctoral Trainees
Are you entering or completing the third year of your Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or Counselling Psychology?
Join Dr Jonathan Hutchins for a free, accessible introduction to Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. This 90-minute online workshop will introduce the foundations of EMDR, its evidence base and how it is applied within contemporary psychological practice.
The session is designed for both incoming and outgoing third-year doctoral trainees who would like to understand more about EMDR before completing their professional training or considering further development following qualification.
No previous knowledge of EMDR is required.
What will the workshop cover?
During this introductory session, we will explore:
What EMDR therapy is and how it developed
The Adaptive Information Processing model
An overview of EMDR’s eight-phase approach
How bilateral stimulation is used within EMDR therapy
The current evidence base and clinical applications of EMDR
How EMDR may be adapted for complexity and differing clinical needs
EMDR training routes and professional eligibility
Opportunities to ask questions about EMDR training and practice
Who is the workshop for?
This free workshop is offered to:
Trainees entering the third year of a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology
Trainees completing the third year of a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology
Trainees entering the third year of a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology
Trainees completing the third year of a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology
The workshop is introductory and does not provide a qualification to practise EMDR.

About the trainer
Dr Jonathan Hutchins is a Clinical Psychologist, EMDR Europe Accredited Trainer, EMDR Consultant and Supervisor. He has extensive experience of using and teaching EMDR across a range of NHS, independent and specialist clinical settings.
His training approach is guided by four principles:

In-house EMDR training
We can also provide in-house EMDR training for NHS services, universities, healthcare organisations and clinical teams.
In-house delivery can make training more accessible, support the development of EMDR capacity across a service and enable organisations to train groups of eligible clinicians together.
